This regal, stately ad was created for the Courvoisier cognac. Their manufacturing process which remains unchanged since 1809 is still a closely guarded secret. Famed as ‘Napoleon’s Cognac’, a possibly apocryphal tale tells how he desired his artillery companies to be rationed with it. In 1909 the company was sold to the Simon family in England, but it continues to be manufactured in Jarnac in the Charente region of France. The iconography in the ad attests to its transnational reach.
